Portland, ME October 5, 2009- The Greater Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce that People magazine has, in its October 12 issue, listed Harvest on the Harbor as one of the “Great Ideas” for fall food festivals. Pauline Frommer, creator of Pauline Frommer Guides, says in the article, “Not only does this festival bring more than 100 food vendors, it also takes place during fall foliage season…making it a good time to see ‘some of the most spectacular wooded areas in the U.S.’ ”
“We are thrilled to receive such a great accolade from People,” said Barbara Whitten, President of the Greater Portland Convention and Visitors Bureau. “One of the missions of the event is to show the world that Maine is a culinary destination, and with Bon Appetit naming us ‘The Foodiest Small Town in America’, along with the New York Times’ recent article on the local food scene--and now People magazine--we are getting recognized for our wonderful chefs and the farm-to-table initiative that we are so proud of here in the Greater Portland area.”
