Acadia Aqua Farm is a family owned Maine company. The owner, Theo de Koning, is a fifth generation Dutch mussel farmer and has been farming for more than twenty years. Acadia Aqua Farms produces a superior flavored mussel using ecologically responsible, sustainable farming techniques, refined over more than five generations. Maine’s clear, cold waters and the seabed selected for the 160 acres of aquaculture leases are what give the mussels their exceptional flavor.  Acadia Aqua Farms’ method, unique to North America, allows the mussel to follow their natural development cycle on beds specially selected to produce this premium quality mussel.
